Permission to Curate

This month I celebrate being OK with failure – because this blog post was meant to be written on the 1st day of the month, and it is now the 16th.

I genuinely tried, come 1st October, to pen my recent reflections, but nothing of satisfaction resulted. And then eventually I got some inspiration, but finding the mental alertness and motivation to craft a complete post in one sitting was a struggle. So there.

Truthfully, I have been #languishing. No wonder I couldn’t bring myself to blog anything at the start of this month. The strain of the repercussions of the pandemic (swabs, travel restrictions, social activity restrictions, access to care, etc. etc. etc.) as opposed to the physical danger of the virus itself has finally got to me and I’m so over it. And yes, despite the inconveniences, I am grateful to not have gotten ill in the first place. But that does not make the burn-out any easier to battle.

Thankfully, 9 months is a long enough time to feel I deserve to take a moment to #reflect and #celebrate the #littlewins to date. Who cares if it’s not yet 31 December? I love my string of Blogs for this year, tied together with healthy habits. There have been so many occasions where my blogs have been a handy reference in conversations where intentional living and productivity hacks have come up. Atomic Habits, y’all. My whiteboard beside my bed with my list of goals that grows as each month rolls by keeps me motivated with the realisation that progress has been made. Hindsight isn’t just good for avoiding mistakes – it’s great for affirming the positive steps we take in life that are making a seriously real difference in our lives.

As usual, the inspiration for the final consolidation of my reflections on the past month (and 15 days) came from my favourite YouTube/Podcast subscriptions. Specifically for the past month of September though, it’s been a wonderful journey of watching two other good friends find their #resetrelease experience through #curating their life trajectory using the Rocket Goals course in FAST Missions.

The #whiteboard conversation (contact me for more on the “whiteboard”) that kicked off the journey for these two beautiful souls came from a place of recognising that we can’t keep living life from the passenger seat. Watching the flourishing that came from taking time to intentionally select, determine, and define the desired life path was incredibly satisfying.

It is so clear that sometimes we just need to be given permission to carefully curate our own lives. We may genuinely want to live a life with purpose and clear intentions, but begin to despair when after multiple attempts, the outcomes just don’t seem to be manifesting. Enter the power of #community. #phoneafriend is a real thing. So, if you are in that place of “wanting/wishing” and not “getting/having”, then:

I give you #permission to #curate the life you desire.

Whatever is stopping you from achieving your goals, I give you permission to decide differently today.

I know “curate” sounds like “create”. That’s a happy coincidence, not a typo. To curate is to select, organise, and look after the items in a collection or exhibition of precious artefacts; i.e. your life.

If you need some coaching or support in your curating, you know where to find me 🙂

#reset your passive living and wishful thinking

#release yourself to curate and create the life you desire

My October goal: Minimum 30 minutes of daily activity – because being active contributes to improved wellbeing, and October is the month of Depression & Mental Health Awareness.
